Hi there! My name is Brooke and I do yoga.

I am a registered 200 hour certified yoga teacher and have been practicing yoga for over a decade.

Body connection has always been a part of my story. I was an athlete throughout my youth, but even so I always felt a disconnect between my mind and my physical body. While studying Theatre Arts Performance I was immersed in different movement and breath work that transformed the way I thought and felt about my body.

This is also when I was introduced to yoga. I had several injuries from my time as an athlete, which propelled me to search for a new way to stay active. I kept coming back to my yoga mat because through yoga I was able to connect to not just my body, but my mind and spirit as well. I’ve fallen in love with yoga over and over again in the last decade, always amazed at the depth of what I can learn about my body, my mind, anatomy, philosophy and connection with others.

I love sharing yoga with others and breaking the perceptions of what yoga is in the Western world. I approach teaching with a beginner’s mind, with the goal of guiding my students toward their unique yoga. In teaching I aim to spread light on yoga philosophy, asana, and anatomy to create a welcoming environment for all. My classes are a balance of challenge to focus the mind in self-awareness, play to generate joyful ease, and practical biomechanics to increase knowledge and safety.

Atha yogānuśāsanam

The first verse of the Yoga Sutra translates to “Now, the teachings of Yoga.” Meaning that wherever you are, whatever state you are in mentally, physically, emotionally, the time for yoga is now. And now. And now. Every present moment is the moment for yoga. Not when you’re ‘flexible enough’ or ‘strong enough’ or ‘enlightened enough,’ but now, exactly as you are right now. Yoga meets us where we are, wherever we are.
